Heroes Emergency Fund

Organized by Heroes for Homeless Animals

UPDATE:
5-2-12We are currently trying to raise funds to help us pay for a few special dogs that we have in rescue currently.1. Harper- 5 week old pup from Mama Mae's litter who is very ill. Our vet confirmed that she has an enlarged heart, enlarged pancreas, and fluid in her abdomen. She is jaundice and is fighting dehydration. We have consulted with our homeopathic vet and have started treatment to try to save her life.2. Tony- Tony is a very sad bulldog who was recently horribly beaten by his previous foster. He suffered a closed head injury and came to us in rough shape. Tony has had a horribly rough life! He is also a slight heartworm positive and has moderate separation anxiety. We want nothing more than for Tony to be happy, comfortable and not fearful. We need to raise funds to help treat his anxiety naturally and treat his heartworm.3. Mama Chi Chi/Brooklynn has recovered from all of her injuries and has been spayed etc. But, she needs oral surgery. Her bottom teeth have been ground down below the gum line level. The roots are still intact, but are rotting. Her surgery takes place this coming week. You can donate to Hoover Road Animal Hospital 586-795-3500 Account # 2238 Heroes Rescue or send donations to Heroes for Homeless Animals PO BOX 71913 Madison Heights 48071
24 babies in rescue! WOW
Mama Mae and her babies are doing well. We unfortunately lost one of the smaller pups in her litter. So, she has 8 healthy babies!

Mama Chi Chi aka Brooklynn is still fighting off her numerous infections, but she is doing well. She is healing and starting to feel better. She is a very loving dog and really enjoys other dogs being around. We actually have videos of her playing with our pack! We unfortunately lost one of her runts to infection. She has 6 babies that are doing pretty good.

*New* Mama Roxi gave birth on Sunday. She had 12 babies. One of them was still born and the runt passed a day later. Mama Roxi is a great Mama. Her 10 babies are large and doing well. They look to have shepherd or rottweiler markings. We will see :)

Quick Update!
Thank you to everyone who has reposted and reposted again :) You are the ones making a difference in the lives of these Mama's and babies. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!We are very busy taking care of all of these families, but here is an update! Mama Chi Chi went to the vet for her check up today. She is healing, but still fighting infection. She has a huge pocket of infection on her leg that we have to drain and clean out twice daily. She recieved a steroid shot and another weeks worth of amoxicillin and baytril antibiotics. At this time our vet doesn't feel as if she will need surgery for her exploded breast. He does anticipate being able to perform her oral surgery at the same time that she is spayed.Chi Chi aka Brooklynn's babies are also eating and doing better now that they are on antibiotics. Fingers crossed that they continue to fight of their infections and thrive.Mama Mae is doing very well and being a good mama. All of her babies weighed in at 1lb or more today :)Our new Mama who we brought into rescue a couple days ago after an urgent plea from another local aco is doing well. This kind aco didn't want to see this sweet girl give birth in the shelter. After an xray, we discovered that Roxi has 12 or more babies. SHe is a love and her temp has dropped. We will see babies from her soon! Stay posted.

3-22-12 Heroes and many others worked together to save Mama Chi Chi and her pups. She had been living under a building for a year and had multiple wounds that needed medical attention. We will need your support to help this family! Mama was believed to have been attacked by another dog. We believe based on the locations of her wounds that Chi Chi saved her 7 babies by laying over top of them. One of her babies recieved puncture wounds and was rescued 1 day prior, but had to be humanely euthanized.
Mama Chi Chi's body is covered in wounds that are infected. She also has horrible mastitis. It was so severe that one of her breasts exploded open because it was full of infection. She is being treated with two different antibiotics and her wounds are being flushed daily. Upon being checked out by our vet, it was discovered that her bottom teeth have been ground down and are separated from the gums. This makes eating very painful for her. But, she eats just to please us. She is a very sweet dog. We are hoping that her body can fight off all of the infections.
*Houston was having breathing problems and sadly passed away on 3-27-12*
On 3-23-12 Mama Mae needed us! She was tied to a tree without proper shelter. She came to us emaciated, scarred from sunburn and frostbite. Mae was also VERY pregnant weighing in at 55lbs. Two days later, on the 25th, Mae gave birth to 10 babies. Unfortunately one of those babies was stillborn. At this time she weighs 33lbs. These cuties are lucky to be alive. Their mama was surrendered to the local animal control officer and almost euthanized due to space.
Mama Mae is a first time mother, but doing very well. Mama Mae and babies have been checked over by our vet. Mama is now on two suppliments to help her to gain weight and it will help her skin to heal from the damage that's been done.
*Daisy Mae, the runt of the litter, sadly passed away on 3-27-12*
